Our goal as disciples of Christ is to receive the full picture of Truth.
8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.
12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.1 Corinthians 13:8-10, 12 (NASB Strong’s (Lockman))
A disciple is a student and as such, we are learning daily to be more alike our Rabbi, Jesus Christ.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.Romans 12:2 (NASB Strong’s (Lockman))
29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;Romans 8:29 (NASB Strong’s (Lockman))
Our Helper is the Holy Spirit who helps us progressively to come into the fullness of this Truth, which is found solely in Jesus Christ.
13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.John 16:13 (NASB Strong’s (Lockman))
It should be the purest and most important desire for a disciple of Christ to seek and receive the complete Truth. In essence, our whole life revolves in and around Truth.
We do not rest in partial or incomplete Truths and continue to study God’s Word in Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit’s help.
